June Message from Our Towne

Dear friends, neighbors and colleagues,

Another year, another graduating class…where does the time go? This year has simply flown by and as usual, our school district has been busy, filled with energy, choices and changes….I truly love this about BSCSD when compared to other districts who are frankly, just not as interesting or don’t seem to be as passionately involved, by appearances. Its very exciting stuff indeed!

Of course, our high school is delivering another year of graduates who are simply fascinating. I find it impressive to speak with the kids who have crafted their talents, skills and interests to levels that go way beyond what I remember leaving high school with. Its truly a different world, with a whole new set of challenges, and I’m proud of the schools that have helped to prepare these kids with strength, activism and the knowledge to handle what’s coming their way.

I’m lost in the 1978 movie “Grease” at this writing and can think of a few select graduates that are “the Sandy”, “the Kenickie”, “the Frenchie”, “the Danny”, “the jock Tom”…even Principal Kris Jensen (pictured on the cover) is like Principal MacGee in many ways…pretty funny to think about if you know Kris like I do! What’s more fun is imagining where our own BSHS “Grease-like” graduates will be in 10 or 20 years….

So, a heartfelt “Congratulations Class of 2009″! May your future be all that you imagine and more, may your path be bumpy and never dull and may your decisions be filled with the kindness, the care and the passion that your community has shown you. Work hard, stay involved and give more than you expect to receive….you’ll be glad you did!

P.S. Special smiles and congrats to Laura Antinore :-) What a beautiful young lady you’ve become!
P.P.S. We love you Markie!
